Genesis Hang is a Wellesley College Class of 2026 student majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Biochemistry. Computer Science & Informatics PhD Student at Emory University. My interests primarily lie in using AI/ML to empower accessibility in healthcare.

Previous research experience: I have worked on several research projects involving machine learning, healthcare, and human-centered AI. Most recently, I worked in the MOGU Lab at Wellesley College on improving machine learning models for forecasting suicide attempts using longitudinal patient data, in collaboration with researchers at MGH, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard. I helped with literature review, data analysis, model development and evaluation, and preparing research for presentation and publication. I have also worked on applied AI projects through the Novartis AI Studio and conducted earlier research at MIT.

How I got started: For my first research experience, I found a UROP opportunity and emailed the PI immediately! My most recent research experience was able to happen because I took the PI's course, demonstrated extended interest in the topic, and talked research with him! He luckily was opening spots in his lab the following semester:)
