Aileen Liang is a Wellesley College Class of 2028 student majoring in Computer Science and Math. I'm interested in AI safety, natural language processing, and social network analysis (particularly online misinformation).

Previous research experience: This summer I worked on an interdisciplinary CS/political science research project at Wellesley, analyzing messaging strategies in far-right political podcasts using computational strategies such as word embeddings and LLM classification. I've also worked on the MIT AI Risk Mitigation Repository at the MIT FutureTech lab, helping to develop the taxonomy, incorporate literature review, and manage the database.

How I got started: I started by emailing a CS professor at Wellesley! She then recommended me for the summer program after a couple years of working together. For the MIT position, I found the AI risk project through the ELx UROP portal and emailed the principal investigator.
