Jawaria studies Econometrics and Politics, Philosophy & Economics, with additional interests in business and data science. Her research interests include development, political information, and making institutions more inclusive.
Previous research experience: Developmental Economics Research Fellow at Sewanee, where she built a longitudinal dataset by cleaning and merging seven years of national survey data in Stata and studied colonial land-revenue systems, land ownership, economic activity, and living standards across Pakistani districts. At Sewanee DataLab, used R/R Markdown with YouGov and Forthright data in a University of Catalunya collaboration on political bias and content consumption. She is also an Economics teaching assistant and Carey Fellow.
How I got started: Sewanee DataLab was my entry point. We were working with survey data, and I liked being able to use it to look at political questions I already cared about. From there I went on to my own development economics project with faculty support.
