Mia studies Social Work and Psychology and is interested in child development, mental health, selective mutism, behavioral support, and how people navigate difficult emotional experiences.

Previous research experience: Research Assistant at Skidmore College. Her applied experience includes counseling children ages 4–10 with selective mutism through Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants' Voices Rising program, as well as extensive youth mentoring, camp counseling, and classroom support.

How I got started: Through working with kids, especially in the selective mutism program. I wanted to know more about why a particular approach helps some children and how you can tell if its working. That interest carried over into research at Skidmore
