Maya studies Psychology and is interested in diversity, intersectional identities, developmental psychology, inclusion, and child mental health.
Previous research experience: Research Assistant in Skidmore's Diversity in Groups and Self lab, contributing to psychology research on diversity, social justice, intersectional identities, and social institutions. Her applied experience includes two summers with Child Mind Institute's Brave Buddies program supporting children with selective mutism using PCIT-SM strategies, plus teaching and inclusion work with children with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
How I got started: I was interested in developmental psychology already, but working with children gave me more specific questions. Joining the Diversity in Groups and Self lab was a way to explore how identity and the groups around someone affect their development
