Sociology
Alanna studies Sociology with interests in law, social justice, community advocacy, American Studies, Gender Studies, and public-interest legal work.
Previous research experience: Research Assistant in Skidmore's American Studies and Gender Studies departments supporting Professor Tammy Owens through proofreading, draft reading, and research assistance. Previously a Teagle Humanities Research Fellow focused on moral and political texts and completed a research essay. Also completed a Yale Pathways research internship in the Mayer Laboratory studying proton-coupled electron transfer at solid-solution interfaces.
How I got started: The humanities fellowships were where I first got into research. A lot of it was reading closely and working through an argument in writing, which I enjoyed. Working with Professor Tammy Owens at Skidmore let me keep doing that around questions of identity and social institutions.
