Annalise Chang is a Pomona College Class of 2027 student majoring in Politics and Asian Studies. My research focuses on international security in the Indo-Pacific, spanning regional alliances, critical mineral resilience, and disaster response policy.

Previous research experience: I have worked in a variety of research spaces, including academia, government, and think tanks. I have examined Western bias in the study of East Asian security by examining 41 syllabi of US undergraduate courses on East Asia, co-published three opinion editorials, researched and translated Taiwanese foreign policy initiatives, and researched cases and mechanisms of Chinese economic coercion.

How I got started: I worked on a summer research project with a professor whose class I had taken and became his research assistant after the project had concluded. Since then, I have continued to work with him on research and writing tasks, leading to three publications.
