Maike Anthony is an Oberlin College Class of 2028 student majoring in Mathematics. Their interests center on topology, especially symplectic topology and Floer homology, and how these tools can be used to study geometric and topological problems.

Previous research experience: I worked on a summer research project with Dr. Luya Wang at Princeton University studying applications of symplectic topology and Floer homology to the Square Peg Problem, a mathematical conjecture that has remained open for more than 100 years. My work involved reading research papers, learning the relevant mathematical background, and studying recent approaches to the problem.

How I got started: I reached out directly to professors and postdocs at different institutions whose research interested me and asked whether they would be willing to mentor me through a summer research project.
