Madison Block is an Oberlin College Class of 2027 student majoring in Politics, with a second major in History and additional study in Law & Society and Comparative American Studies. Their planned senior History project examines the political significance of changes to national monuments and new sites of historical memory in the contemporary United States, alongside interests in executive power and museum-like spaces.

Previous research experience: Most of my research experience has come through coursework. My capstone question grew out of a 2026 Winter Term House Democratic leadership micro-internship and time spent exploring the Capitol and its institutional history.

How I got started: I was encouraged by Oberlin faculty to consider a Fulbright Research grant. I am also applying to law school and am interested in learning from other students' experiences before deciding whether to pursue a research fellowship.
