Haiyang (Mark) Wang is a Kenyon College Class of 2029 student majoring in Chemistry. Their research interests center on synthetic chemistry, especially improving the efficiency and sustainability of laboratory synthesis by replacing hazardous solvents and developing lower-resource protocols.

Previous research experience: I worked as a summer research assistant in the Getzler lab, where I helped improve the synthetic approach for a monomer used in the lab.

How I got started: I entered research through Kenyon College's Cascade Program, an 8-10 week mentored summer research program for students who have not previously had the opportunity to conduct research.
