John Kafumbe is a Grinnell College Class of 2028 student studying Economics and Computer Science. Their interests focus on how data and algorithms shape labor markets, especially whether AI-driven hiring technologies expand access to economic opportunity or reproduce existing inequities.

Previous research experience: I worked as a research assistant on a study examining how alcohol and fatigue affect driving performance and eye behavior. I run statistical analyses for work being prepared for submission to the Transportation Research Board.

How I got started: I applied to Grinnell's Mentored Advanced Project (MAP) program and was selected to work with Professor Ryan Miller and the Driving Safety Research Institute. I now run the statistical analysis and am co-authoring a paper targeting publication.
