Kevin is a Chemistry student with interests in chemical biology, immunology, and the development of CAR-T therapies, especially applications beyond cancer.

Previous research experience: Research Assistant at Dickinson College and University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. In Dr. Jim Riley's lab at Penn, synthesized and troubleshot plasmids using cloning, PCR, transformation, and DNA isolation; engineered CAR-T cells for autoimmune-disease applications using aseptic technique, flow cytometry, lentiviral production, and killing assays. Previously researched B7-H3 CAR-T cells and CXCR3 chemokine-receptor biology at Seattle Children's.

How I got started: CAR-T research at Seattle Children's was my first real introduction. I liked seeing how something happening at the molecular level could matter for a treatment. That pushed me to keep learning chemistry and immunology, and later to work on autoimmune disease applications in the Riley Lab.
