Emily Messer is a Centre College Class of 2028 student studying Neuroscience. Her current research examines sex differences in incubation behavior in ring-necked doves, and she is also interested in Alzheimer's disease research.

Previous research experience: I was a research shadow in spring 2026 in the same lab where I am now a research student. I used that semester to observe and learn the lab's procedures before joining the research team more formally.

How I got started: I talked with my academic advisor about research and asked to join her team. I began by spending one hour per week in the lab as a research shadow, and this semester I officially joined the team.
