Mohammed Albarassi is a Carleton College Class of 2028 Computer Science student with interests in Statistics and Data Science and Digital Arts and Humanities. He is interested in human-centered computing, data visualization, and the use of interactive digital tools to make complex social, cultural, or historical information easier to explore.

Previous research experience: I have not yet held a formal research assistant position. My closest experience has come through computer science coursework, digital projects, teaching support, and community-facing work. I am especially interested in research where I can build something tangible, such as a visualization, interactive archive, or small data product, while also learning how researchers decide whether a tool actually helps the people it is designed for.

How I got started: I am hoping to get started by identifying faculty projects where my current skills are useful rather than waiting until I know exactly what I want to research. My plan would be to bring a small portfolio of coding work to office hours and ask what kinds of tasks an undergraduate can realistically own.
