Audrey Schwartz is a Carleton College Class of 2026 Psychology alum with a Cognitive Science background and an interest in developmental psychology. Her research interests focus on emotion regulation, development, and psychophysiology, including how physiological responses can help explain differences in emotional experience and behavior.

Previous research experience: I worked for several years in Carleton's cognitive science research environment and also completed a summer research assistantship in Yale's Emotion, Health, and Psychophysiology Lab. A realistic project for me would involve recruiting and running participants, following human-subjects protocols, processing behavioral and physiological data, and using statistical analysis to connect patterns in the data to developmental theory.

How I got started: I got started after a psychology course made me curious about how researchers measure concepts like emotion or attention that seem difficult to quantify. I approached a professor, began with participant-facing and data-management tasks, and learned the research process by seeing the same study from recruitment through analysis.
