Kazumi Haag is a Bates College Class of 2028 student studying Environmental Studies and Politics. Their research interests span marine and terrestrial conservation. At Bates, they work in the LeFlore Lab studying bobcat conservation.

Previous research experience: This summer, I worked on juvenile lobster population health and scallop aquaculture at Hurricane Island. I have also worked on bee conservation in Monteverde, Costa Rica, and on whelks in the intertidal.

How I got started: At Bates, Dr. LeFlore mentioned in Conservation Biology that he was taking students in his lab. I went to his office hours to talk with him, and that conversation eventually led to a research assistant position.
