John Farrell is a Bates College Class of 2027 student majoring in History and minoring in Religious Studies. Their research interests center on drug policy and substance control, especially comparisons between historical and contemporary legislation and their effects on different communities.

Previous research experience: I have worked in the Bates College archives on the preservation and research of artifacts and documents and completed full-length research projects through history courses.

How I got started: History and writing courses introduced me to library research resources, and I also reached out directly to the Bates Archives about a summer internship.
