Feray-Thea Karaismailoglu is a Bates College Class of 2028 student studying Neuroscience and Chemistry with a minor in Physics. Her research interests focus on how the brain processes information and how neural circuits contribute to learning, memory, and behavior, especially how changes in brain structure and function influence cognition and neurological health.

Previous research experience: This summer, I worked with Pfizer exploring the use of AI for pharmaceutical document analysis, gaining experience with how AI can support research and improve the analysis of complex scientific information. The previous summer, I worked on a neuroscience research project focused on sleep and its effects on the brain.

How I got started: My research journey began through neuroscience coursework at Bates. A professor offered me an on-campus summer research opportunity, which gave me my first hands-on lab experience. I later used Bates's career center to find the Pfizer opportunity in AI-assisted pharmaceutical research.
