Sydney Eze is a Barnard College Class of 2027 student studying Computational Neuroscience and Mathematical Sciences with a minor in Intersectional Science/Technology Studies. Their research interests focus on computational models of high-level cognition and what those models can reveal about neural architecture, representation, and behavior.

Previous research experience: I have evaluated semi-supervised pose estimation software at Columbia's Zuckerman Institute and Lightning AI, worked on a mouse model of intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder at Mount Sinai, built statistical models of choice valuation in rodent behavioral tasks related to substance use disorders, and studied whether representational biases in artificial neural networks of proprioception align with human representations at Carnegie Mellon.

How I got started: I began through SUNY Downstate's REACH program, which exposed me to autism research through lectures, clinical and lab training, and group projects. That experience showed me research and PhD pathways beyond healthcare and pushed me to cold-email professors and actively search for opportunities to build deeper expertise.
