Meher Lakdawala is a Barnard College Class of 2029 student majoring in Biochemistry. I am interested in chemical synthesis and its applications to biology and neuroscience, specifically designing small molecules to probe biological processes to create therapeutics for cancer and infectious disease.

Previous research experience: I worked on a summer research project doing organic chemical synthesis focusing on amino sugar variants which are biologically significant.

How I got started: I got started by emailing a lot of professors with a few responses, yet eventually landed my summer position via other students and direct networking. I participated in the fully- funded Barnard Summer Research Institute after discussing opportunities with my professor.
