Evangeline Eastman is a Barnard College Class of 2027 student studying Economics and Math with a minor in Statistics. Their research interests focus on how human-capital investments, including education reform and vocational programs, can improve economic opportunity and mobility among disadvantaged groups.

Previous research experience: I worked with a Columbia Business School professor studying housing policy and real estate markets in Canada. I also conducted independent research on immigration's effects on receiving labor markets in Europe and on vocational training programs for young unaccompanied migrants.

How I got started: I applied to Barnard's Laidlaw Scholars program, which funds independent research projects for social science and humanities students.
